Dr. Frade studied at Complutense University of Madrid, earning a degree in Biological Sciences in 1989. He then completed his Ph.D. in Sciences at Autonomous University of Madrid in 1994. From 1996 to 1998, he worked in Germany at the Department of Neurobiochemistry at the Max Planck Institute of Neurobiology. During this time, he conducted studies on the induction of apoptosis mediated by the interaction of NGF with its receptor p75NTR, which were published in the scientific journal Nature. Joining the Cajal Institute in 1998, Dr. Frade led a research group studying the mechanisms involved in cell cycle activation in neurons and neuronal tetraploidization in the brain. As the Scientific Director of Tetraneuron, José María brings the essential scientific rigor needed for the development of our pipeline of therapies for neurodegenerative diseases.
